La Biblioteca Italiana delle Donne (The Italian Women's Library) was established at the end of the 1970s by the Associazone Orlando, a group of women active in both politics and research. They intended to found an autonomous institution to promote studies on gender differences. The Italian Women's Library hosts the main collections (women’s archive, books, children literature, historic collection) specialised in women's culture, gender and feminist studies in Italy.
